HISTORY

After permanently relocating to Ibiza in 1956, Canadian born Rolph Blakstad founded Blakstad Design Consultants in 1967.

He exhaustively studied Ibizan architecture when it was still a living millennial tradition with peasant builders, whose rules were passed down verbally from father to son. His studies with these builders became the basis of his work of research, design and building for more than 40 years.

Today, the time-honoured family tradition continues with sons Rolf and Nial. A living tradition adapts itself to changing circumstances, but is still based on the local building experience of the island during thousands of years.

At Blakstad we are proud to work in an unbroken tradition going back to remote origins; but which can yet be adapted to the needs of today.
